Psychotherapy for Anxiety and Trauma

We all know what it feels like to experience fear and anxiety. Many situations come up everyday in life where it is reasonable and even productive to have these feelings. Our fear response to danger, for example, can be useful with keeping us safe. A little anxiety can help us to thrive in challenging life situations. However, sometimes fear and anxiety can tip into a more persistent, intense and crippling experience that can get in the way of good quality of life. If your anxiety seems to arrive unannounced most days of the week and makes it difficult for you to function in important areas such as work or relationships, I can help.

The good news is evidence-based treatment exists that can help you feel better and reclaim your life.

Anxiety is the most common mental health issue in the United States, affecting up to one in five people. In addition, it is not uncommon for a person with anxiety to also suffer from depression.

I am a psychotherapist in San Francisco (on Union Street) specializing in treatment for adults suffering from anxiety, panic, phobias, PTSD, OCD, childhood trauma and depression. I also routinely work with individuals experiencing relationship problems, grief and loss, and difficulty coping with life transitions. My approach to treatment is tailored to what is unique and specific to you and I draw from a variety of therapy modalities including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

My style is warm, authentic and non-judgemental and I collaborate with clients to find the most effective approach for progress and success in therapy.
